Penpals and Penal Codes: Edgar and Me visits Wandsworth Fringe

Charlotte and Tim, a Sheffield based theatre company, are visiting the Wandsworth Fringe with their internationally toured performance, Edgar and Me, from the 9-15th May.

Edgar and Me tells the story of the penpal relationship between the performer, Charlotte Blackburn, and Edgar Garcia, an inmate on Death Row in Terre Haute prison, Indiana. This performance depicts their relationship through his letters to her, the stories they have shared, and his past, as she discovered it online. During the piece, she invites her audience into their world, telling them their story, and taking them on their journey. This thought-provoking piece, created by Charlotte and director Tim Norwood, explores the lives of Death Row inmates in Terre Haute, alongside this friendship.

Edgar and Me has previously been shown in Leeds at Live Art Bistro, and in Brussels at the Desires Festival.

Charlotte and Tim are a Sheffield-based company dedicated to creating compelling performance that can be accessed by as many people as possible. They are Charlotte Blackburn and Tim Norwood, both resident artists with established company Theatre Delicatessen. Together they create work that draws people into the performance, be it through discussion, handing control of the piece over to the audience, or simply presenting them with a candid, open experience. They also run the Northern Art festival, a pay-what-you-decide showcase for emerging performing artists based in the North.
