We are looking for artists to be a part of the third Northern Art Festival!
When and where? Friday 3rd April in Sheffield, at Theatre Delicatessen’s Old Woolworths on The Moor.
What? We’re looking for performances: live art, theatre, music, dance, spoken word – anything, so long as it’s live, and you’re based in the North. At least four performances will be selected. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information by Wednesday 4th March.
We will then respond to you with our decision by Friday 6th March.
-Your name/company name
-Your contact details
-The names of everyone involved in your performance
-Who you are: what you do, how you work, who you hope to reach, what your ethos is.
-The performance you’d like to do. What inspired it, what’s it like to watch or experience? It doesn’t need to be something you’ve already performed, or even already created, but you’ll need to explain it more clearly if it’s only an idea at this point.
– Evidence of your work. This can be video or sound recordings, reviews, photos, pieces of writing, or anything else that lets us know what your work is like. It can be work you’ve done in the past, as well as the piece you’re proposing. Links are easier than attachments. (Attachments are still fine.)
-The technical requirements of your show. Be specific and clear: do you need a certain kind of lighting, a sound system, a certain kind of space?
-Your availability on the day of the festival and the day after, to help with the get-in and get-out. You will be required to help with these.
-Anything else we should know. Access requirements for you or your performance? What’s the minimum age for your piece? Can you help us with anything beyond performing?
Requirements: You’re available for the day of the festival, Friday 3rd April, and the get-out, Saturday 4th April. You’re a new or emerging artist or company. Unless you can already pay the bills on your art alone, you should be fine.
Money: All performances must be pay-what-you-decide: donations will be pooled and split evenly between all artist companies. We can’t pay you for performing or give you money towards your performance budget. We will try to support you as much as we can, but you’ll need to be as self-sufficient as possible.
Duration: your performance will ideally fit into a half-hour or hour slot. If it’s a shorter piece, you might consider repeating it several times to fill one such slot. If you can repeat
Coming and going: be prepared for audiences to enter and leave your piece at times other than the start and the end.
